is an outline of the Aerospace Studies courses that we offer at LMU:
AS
100 Foundations of the United States Air Force
A survey course designed to introduce students to the United States
Air Force (USAF) and Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFROTC).
Featured topics include: mission and organization of the Air Force,
officership and professionalism, military customs and courtesies, officer
career fields and opportunities, group leadership experiences, and an
introduction to communicative skills.
AS 200 Airpower History
A study of history and heritage, discussion of significant Air force
leaders and their contributions, and an introduction to service issues,
ethics, and values. Includes an examination of the role of airpower
in war. Students make oral and written presentations and participate
in group leadership exercises.
AS 300 Leadership Studies
A study of leadership and quality management fundamentals, professional
knowledge, Air Force Doctrine, leadership ethics, and communication
skills. Case studies are used to examine Air Force leadership and management
situations by demonstrating and exercising practical application of
the concept being studied.
AS 400 National Security Affairs
Examines the national security process, regional studies, the laws of
armed conflict, advanced leadership ethics, and Air Force and joint
doctrine. Special topics of interest focus on the military profession,
officership, civilian control of the military and current issues. Effective
communications skills continue to be emphasized.
Leadership Laboratory (Mandatory for Cadets)
Students are exposed to leadership experience by learning and or
directing others in basic military drill and ceremonies, participating
in physical fitness activities, and participating in challenging group
activities.
